Professor Florin Baeriswyl’s suggestions on online learning for BSM students

The sudden resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic in Shanghai since March 2021 has brought new challenges to the original teaching schedule and routine: the BSM students have been isolated at home or in the dormitory, and all offline teaching has been switched to online teaching.

Lands apart, sky shared. Professor Florin Baeriswyl is concerned about the students and wants to send greetings to them through video and give them some advice on online learning and quarantine life.

I Make a Plan

You should set up a plan and ask questions like “How do I start today?” You can stick to certain consistency that you build upon a regular routine. For instance, for every 15 minutes, you do a 10-minute workout. So you could actually move around during this time.

II Dress in a Proper Way.

Dressing formally can help you switch to study or work mode. Don't wear pajamas all the time.

III Use the Media

Use the media to learn something that you would like to learn. Every day you can have a 10-min or 15-min English conversation. Every day is a winning day when you learn something new.

IV Take a Video Clip of Yourself

Do something during which you look amazing or talk amazingly.

Create and share a story with your friends. Start building up your own brand and create your own voice.

V Reach out

Take 15 to 20 minutes every day to talk to people. You can talk to friends via video conferences and discuss various topics, for example, food, fashion, religion, weather, innovation, future visions, what’s next in virtual reality, and what’s next in consumer goods.

VI Be Kind

Try to be nice to all the people around you. Try to be happy and to share your happiness. Don’t have conflicts with your beloved ones that you live together or with other people.
